This policy explains what personal data Car Finance Claim Calculator collects, why, who it is shared with, how long it is kept and your rights under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). The short version: the calculator does not need your name or contact details, the figures you enter stay on your device, we set no cookies, we run no analytics and show no adverts, and we do not pass your details to any claims firm.

1. Who we are

The controller of your personal data is Car Finance Claim Calculator, Halesowen, B63 1EB, United Kingdom.

For anything about your data, email contact@carfinanceclaimcalculator.uk.

2. What we collect and why

2.1 The calculator

The calculator asks about your agreement: when it started, what type it was (for example PCP or hire purchase), how much you borrowed, the APR, the term and, if you know them, the commission and whether you settled early. It does not ask for your name, address or contact details.

The calculation runs on your own device, so we do not receive or keep the figures you enter. They are not sent to any server, and they do not appear in page addresses or page titles.

2.2 Messages you send us

When you email us, we keep your name, email address and message so that we can reply and keep a record of the conversation.

We do not ask for information about your health or other sensitive matters. If you choose to tell us about your circumstances, for example because they make it harder to deal with your lender, we use that only to reply to you in a suitable way.

2.3 Technical data

Like most websites, our hosting provider records technical data when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the page you asked for and the time. This is used to keep the site secure, to stop abuse and to fix faults.

2.4 Analytics and advertising

We do not use analytics tools and we do not show adverts. The operator plans to add display adverts in future. Before any advertising or analytics is added, we will update this policy and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first.

3. Our lawful bases

Server logs and securityLegitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) in keeping the site safe and working

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have checked that our use is necessary and does not override your rights. You can object at any time (see section 7).

4. Who we share your data with

4.1 Service providers

We use a small number of providers who process data for us, and only for the purposes in this policy:

  • Hosting: Vercel Inc., which serves the site and keeps server request logs.
  • Email: Purelymail, which receives and stores email sent to us.
  • Domain name system (DNS): Cloudflare, which points the site's address to our host. It does not see the pages you visit on our site.

We do not use any analytics, advertising or spam-protection service.

4.2 Regulators, courts and the police

We may share data where the law requires it, for example with the Financial Conduct Authority, the ICO, a court, or the police.

4.3 If the business changes hands

If the site is sold or restructured, your data may pass to the new owner, who must use it in line with this policy.

4.4 What we do not do

We do not pass your details to claims management companies, law firms, lenders, data brokers or marketing lists, and we do not sell your personal data. If we ever plan to offer a referral to a claims firm, it will only be after we hold our own FCA permission, and we will update this policy before any claim form goes live.

5. Transfers outside the UK

Our hosting provider (Vercel Inc.) and our email provider (Purelymail) are based in the United States, so data they process for us, such as server logs and emails, may be stored or accessed there. Each describes the safeguards it uses for international transfers in its own privacy policy: Vercel and Purelymail.

6. How long data is kept

DataHow long
Calculator inputsNot kept. They never leave your device
Messages you send usAs long as needed to deal with your message, and no longer than 2 years

When a period ends, we delete the data or make it anonymous.

7. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • correct data that is wrong or incomplete;
  • delete your data, where we have no reason to keep it;
  • restrict how we use it while a concern is checked;
  • object to uses based on legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time;
  • move data you gave us to another organisation (portability), where the law allows;
  • withdraw consent at any time, without affecting what was done before.

To use any of these rights with us, email contact@carfinanceclaimcalculator.uk. It is free. We will reply within one month, or tell you within that month if we need longer because the request is complex.

Calls and messages about car finance claims. The law bans unsolicited marketing calls about claims management services unless you have agreed to them in advance (PECR regulation 21A), and email or text marketing needs your consent. We never make such calls or send such messages. If you receive them, you can report them to the ICO.

8. Automated decisions

The calculator produces an estimate automatically from the figures you enter. It does not decide anything about you, and it has no legal or similar effect: only your lender decides what you are owed under the FCA scheme. We do not profile visitors.

9. Children

This site is for adults dealing with car finance. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Keeping your data safe

The site uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Access to stored data is limited to people who need it, and our providers must protect it under contract. No system is completely secure, so if we ever have a breach that puts you at risk, we will tell you and the ICO as the law requires.

11. Complaints about how we use your data

Please tell us first at contact@carfinanceclaimcalculator.uk. Under the Data Protection Act 2018 as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, every controller must have a process for data protection complaints from 19 June 2026. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and tell you the outcome.

If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm). The ICO also takes complaints about cookies.

12. Changes to this policy

We will update this policy before we change how we use personal data, for example before adding adverts, analytics, a new provider, or any form. The date at the top shows the latest version.
