Car Finance Claim Calculator Terms of Use
The terms for using Car Finance Claim Calculator: what the free calculator is, what it is not, and the limits of our responsibility.
Last updated: 11 October 2026 · Effective from: 11 October 2026
These terms apply when you use carfinanceclaimcalculator.uk. By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. The site is free, and nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
1. Who we are
The site is run by Car Finance Claim Calculator, Halesowen, B63 1EB, United Kingdom ("we", "us"). You can contact us at contact@carfinanceclaimcalculator.uk.
Regulatory status: We are not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority. We do not handle, refer or advise on claims, and we do not collect or pass on anyone's claim details.
2. What the site is
The site provides:
- a free calculator that estimates redress on a UK car finance agreement under the Financial Conduct Authority's published motor finance redress rules;
- general information about car finance commission complaints and the FCA scheme.
The site does not show adverts yet (section 7).
3. What the site is not
- It is not advice. Nothing on the site is legal, financial or tax advice, or a recommendation about your circumstances. See our disclaimer.
- It does not decide anything. Your lender decides whether you are owed redress under the FCA scheme, and the Financial Ombudsman Service can review its decision. Our estimate does not bind your lender, the Ombudsman or anyone else.
- It does not act for you. We do not handle claims, contact lenders on your behalf, or represent you.
- It does not refer you. We do not refer anyone to a claims management company or law firm, and we do not pass your details to anyone.
- It is not connected to the FCA, the Financial Ombudsman Service or the government.
4. Who can use the site
The site is for people in the United Kingdom dealing with car finance, which in practice means adults.
5. Using the calculator
The calculator applies the FCA's published method to the figures you enter. Its result depends on those figures, on assumptions it shows next to the result, and on rules that are currently subject to legal challenge. You are responsible for checking the figures you enter against your agreement. We explain the method and its limits on our calculator methodology page.
6. Claims firms
You never have to use a claims firm. You can complain to your lender yourself for free, and the Financial Ombudsman Service is free to use.
We do not refer anyone to a claims firm or law firm, we do not pass on anyone's details, and no claims firm pays us. If you choose to use a claims firm you find elsewhere, any agreement is between you and that firm, and we are not responsible for its service. Our complaints page explains how to complain about a claims firm or law firm.
If we ever offer a referral in future, it will only be after we hold our own FCA permission for claims management activity, and we will update these terms first.
7. Adverts
We do not show adverts yet. If we add display adverts in future, they will be labelled, an advert will not be a recommendation or endorsement by us, and we will not be responsible for advertisers' products, services or websites. We will update these terms and our cookie policy before any adverts appear.
8. Acceptable use
You must not:
- use the site for anything unlawful or fraudulent;
- use any tool that creates false page views, or false advert views or clicks if adverts are added;
- try to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site, or use automated tools to copy large parts of it;
- present our content or estimates as your own, or as official FCA figures.
9. Our content
We own the content on the site, or have permission to use it, apart from material we quote from public bodies, which belongs to them. You may share links to our pages and quote short extracts with a link back. You may not copy the calculator or republish our guides in full without written permission.
10. Links to other websites
We link to the FCA, the Financial Ombudsman Service, the courts, lenders and other sources so that you can check what we say. We are not responsible for those websites or their content.
11. Accuracy and availability
We check our content against primary sources and date it, and we correct mistakes promptly (see our editorial policy). But the rules are changing while legal challenges are heard, so we cannot promise that every page is complete or up to date at the moment you read it. We may change, pause or withdraw any part of the site, including the calculator, at any time.
12. Our responsibility to you
The site is free and provided for general information. We are not responsible for any loss that arises because you relied on an estimate or on general information instead of checking with your lender, the Financial Ombudsman Service or a qualified adviser, or for any loss that was not reasonably foreseeable.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
13. Your data
Our privacy policy and cookie policy explain how we use personal data.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when the law changes or we change how the site is funded. The date at the top shows the latest version. The terms that apply are the ones on the site when you use it.
15. Law and courts
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts, and you keep the protection of the consumer laws of your home nation.
